So I had the start of a few posts and none of them really warrant a full post. So, I am going Peter Gammons style and just emptying out the notebook.
-New irons/wedges: I am not going to lie it did take some time to get used to them. I am starting to feel comfortable hitting them and it is showing in my performance. I get the driver and 3 wood this week and I have a bit of trepidation because I am hitting my driver well.
-Handicap: It is back to being sub twenty at a 19.7. It was down to a 19.3. I have had some good nine-hole scores with some 41s and a 42 but the other nine holes weren’t great. The last three full 18-hole rounds for me have been 92, 91, 91. I need to get to a point where I was before where 95 would be a bad round for me. I’m really happy about the progress and the rust coming off from being out so long.
-Tournament Play: Played in my third stroke play tournament this year and absolutely imploded yet again with another 106. It was at Stone Creek, and I took a nine on the first hole after putting in the left fairway bunker and had issues getting out. I’m proud that I righted the ship getting a par on the next hole and then basically playing bogey golf until the 8th hole where I imploded. After that I was mentally just done, the 6 hour round pace didn’t help either, I played like hot garbage on the back.
Next Sunday I have my first round of match play, so let’s see how I rebound there.
-Tennis Elbow: It has been obvious that I have tennis elbow. Never had it before but I think spending so much time in the cast and not doing activity and then going hard has but a strain on my ligaments which probably weakened a bit. Trying to do PT exercises, ice, and use a stim device to fight against it. It’s not impacting my play, just hurt pretty bad after.
-My 58-degree struggle: The biggest place I am losing strokes is around the green specifically when I must chip. I have zero touch with my 58 and have just been struggling with it. I have been spending more time on the range hitting various shots with it but need to go and just get around a green and work on different shots and getting creative. These issues are easily costing me 5-7 strokes per round.
One round at Gearhart will change all of this
