Returning to the scene of the crime
Back to OGA where I played my worst round in a long time in tournament play
On April 12th, I played OGA for one of my golf leagues. I scored a 109, including an 11 on the second hole. The highlights were back-to-back birdies on the front par 5s, but otherwise, it was a house of horrors. It was probably some of the worst golf I have played, and that is saying something with some of the rounds I have posted over the last year.
Historically, I haven’t played OGA horribly, with two rounds 100 or above and two around 90. The course has a couple of tough spots, but otherwise, it is fairly forgiving and short from the tees we usually play.
Saturday, I have another event there in another league I am in. I feel like my game is in a much better place now, and I want to sit down and think about what my goals should be for this round.
1) No elevens, seems self-explanatory, yet here we are.
2) Keep the ball in play. There are a few holes where you have narrow landing areas or make choices to aggressively cover penalty areas. I want to make choices that minimize the risk on these holes.
3) Have fun, because this is all supposed to be fun, right? RIGHT?
4) Stay “in it”, if I have a bad shot or bad hole, I can’t mentally check out and crack open the beers and mess around, rest the day
What do you think I will shoot?
A round without a par but with two birdies is so weird on its own. That scorecard is insane
