I wanted to take a second to look at my swing and see where I started and where I am going.
The first video is from either January or February of this year.
Watching this makes me cringe. The biggest thing I notice is that I am purely upper body here. I lift up, I scoop, it’s a bad swing.
After a month or so of lessons, this was the video we recorded.
This is an improvement as I am getting my legs into the swing. I am still coming down on the ball and the club isn’t really “dropping” through the swing. Additionally seeing my setup here bugs me a little bit with the front foot closed, the lead shoulder is open, and that club face is not parallel. I do get around better on the ball but it’s not a “full swing”.
This one was from a session the other day, it’s not my best swing of the session but in watching a few of the recorded swings this looks to be my “most common”. I didn’t want to bs everyone and put my best swing in there because that’s not my consistent swing.
This isn’t perfect by any means, the lead shoulder is open here, which I have gotten better about but not in this swing. I like my setup better with the lead foot open which makes it easier to get my hips around. Also, my club face is in a better start position although you couldn’t see it with the video (I can tell by the hands). I get around better here with a much more full swing than before and do a way better job of getting my weight forward compared to the first video. The club also does a better drop at dropping through the swing. I still scoop with the wrists here.
Progress isn’t always fast but there is visible progress for sure.
